This course covers on-demand Implicit Bias & Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice content.

There is a great need for clinicians to be knowledgeable and skilled in cultural diversity. Diversity exploration regarding biases, humility, sensitivity, and competence will be the focus of this presentation. In this presentation, attendees will be encouraged to explore why and how cultural diversity is critical in formulating treatment approaches and being person-centered.

Types of racism and examples will be presented. Attendees will be provided resources and information on combating implicit biases and using culturally affirming strategies with clients to identify their experiences with racism, bias, and discrimination. Attendees will be more informed and confident in their skills and knowledge related to all things cultural diversity.

According to the Maryland State regulation (here):
"3 of the required Category I continuing education units shall have anti-oppressive social work practice content focusing on race, culture, or equity, and include one or more of the following topics:
(i) Cultural humility;
(ii) Social justice;
(iii) Racial equity;
(iv) Implicit bias; or
(v) Anti-racism practices;"
