Mental health professionals often report that graduate and doctoral studies did not adequately prepare them for the difficulties of working with couples. In this couples counseling primer, participants will study the top 5 challenges involved with working with couples and how to preempt them and turn the coupling sessions into an opportunity for repair, connection and healthy relationship building.
This training will cover a general framework for working with couples and then go into details based on case studies. Best practices will be discussed and clinicians will learn 10 modalities for couples counseling, offering them a foundation upon which to build future counseling skills. Clinicians will learn about assessment, discernment, communication skills and 13 ingredients for a healthy relationship.
Modalities discussed include: Five Love Languages, CBT, Communication Skills, Gottman and Imago as well as Family Systems, EFT, Divorce Busting, IFS and Trauma. The course will include many case studies and practical applications for helping your clients reach their relationship goals.
