Course Overview

Via recorded webinar
Course Description:
Course awards 3 CE Ethics per COMAR 10.42.06

What do I do when a client tells me they’ve contemplated committing suicide? Who do I contact when I’m worried a client is going to hurt someone? Will I get in trouble if I talk about my clients outside of work?

This course brings real-world context to ethical concerns related to confidentiality, often experienced by professionals in practice. We’ll explore the goals and limits of confidentiality through an analysis of ethical and legal complications. This course will provide a framework to contemplate ethical dilemmas and make informed decisions that insulate professionals from legal liability while protecting clients from harm.

Some of the information was a good refresher, but I learned a great deal about ethics! Did not expect to learn so much!! Usually I leave an ethics course and think it's so basic. Kathryn presented the material in a very clear, understandable way. Greatly appreciate that Kathryn is able to present from her legal and her mental health background. Able to take the information and use it in my practice!

I have always struggled to find ethics courses that are interesting and also cover the requirement social workers need to renew their license. I was pleasantly surprised with this one! It was very interesting, interactive, kept my attention and I learned many new things. Highly recommend.
