Course Description:
Navigate life after a loss can be very challenging. Individual therapy isn’t always feasible or the best fit for everyone. Clinicians often struggle regarding where to begin when creating a grief support group. One important aspect of facilitating a grief group is identifying which group model to utilize to better support attendees. Your training and skills can greatly impact attendees progress in healing after a loss and empower them to navigate grief in a healthier way.
This training will explore the differences between support groups, psychoeducational groups, and therapy groups. Participants will learn about key logistical concerns to address before facilitating a grief group and how to choose which modality is best for your client population. We will cover group dynamics of working with children, teens and adults. This workshop will provide you with grief group activities and resources to empower you to effectively help you facilitate your first grief group.
