Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m so OCD”? This is a common statement because OCD is often misunderstood in our society. As clinicians, you are likely to have clients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Understanding the disorder and fundamental treatment approaches is beneficial.
This workshop will present the etiology of OCD, including symptomology and assessment measures for proper DSM-5-TR diagnosis. Key features of the disorder, including thought and behavior patterns, will be explored. The core treatment approaches of CBT and ERP will be highlighted. Case vignettes and video clips will provide clinicians with opportunities to engage in critical thinking and discussion.
Original recording date: December 12, 2022 Length: 3 Hours
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and identify key symptomology through review of the DSM-5-TR criteria.
- Differentiate between obsessions and compulsions of the disorder and show examples of how each manifest with OCD.
- Evaluate and implement evidenced-based treatment methods, such as CBT and ERP.
