Course Overview
This 12-hour training introduces participants to The Summit Framework, a developmental model designed to guide child-centered play therapists along the path from foundational competence to confident mastery. Through the lens of four progressive tiers—Clinical, Applied, Refined, and Insight—this training outlines the essential skills, mindsets, and milestones that define a therapist’s evolution in the child-centered play therapy model. Grounded in classical CCPT theory and best practices, participants will explore what it means to move beyond surface-level technique toward a deeper embodiment of the model.
Therapists will learn how to assess their current stage of development, identify growth areas, and create a personalized roadmap for professional advancement. Using structured self-review tools and practical case-based applications, this training equips clinicians with a framework to stay grounded in fidelity while continuing to grow in nuance, confidence, and clinical excellence. Whether new to play therapy or years into the journey, participants will gain clarity, motivation, and direction for mastering the art of child-centered play therapy in a developmentally meaningful way.
- Describe the structure and purpose of the Summit Framework as a guide for developing mastery in child-centered play therapy.
- Identify the core competencies and therapist characteristics associated with each tier of the Summit Framework (Clinical, Applied, Refined, Insight).
- Use structured self-assessment tools to evaluate adherence to the child-centered play therapy model and identify areas for continued growth.
- Recognize the developmental tasks and mindset shifts that occur at each stage of the Summit Framework in the journey toward CCPT mastery.
- Explain how understanding and application of CCPT principles evolve across the tiers of the Summit Framework.
- Assess one’s own alignment with the core principles of child-centered play therapy at various stages of professional growth.
- Create a personalized roadmap for advancing toward mastery in child-centered play therapy using the Summit Framework.

This training was one of the best child centered play therapy CEUs I have taken. I loved how Brenna scaffolded the learning. , each phase built on the next. The content was extremely thorough, clear and accessible. The course took information with which I was very familiar and took me to a deeper level. That is how I learn best.
