In this engaging and interactive training, therapists, social workers and psychologists will learn about how to diagnose, conceptualize and treat trauma issues including sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Learners will understand the history and evolution of trauma diagnosis and treatment, 5 core competencies for treating trauma, assessment of trauma and stress disorders, co-morbid trauma issues, evidence-based trauma treatment including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and somatic interventions. Participants will learn how to create the most opportune therapeutic environments by avoiding the 5 pitfalls and by utilizing compassion, patience, skills and creativity in the therapy room. Clinicians will learn about self-care in the context of trauma treatment. Finally, we will discuss completing the process and reaching closure for the client.
Learning Objectives: Participants will learn and practice implementing trauma stabilization and evidence based therapeutic interventions.
