Course Description:
Depression is a common medical condition that impacts millions of people each year. There are several factors that trigger depressive symptoms that include: biological history, psychosocial stressors, and/or relationship dynamics. The current webinar will focus on comparing and contrasting Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for Depression, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for Depression, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Depression allowing clinicians an opportunity to select the best method to treat adult depression based on the presenting problem.

Dr. Lillian Gibson will provide mental health professionals with a practical framework to assess and treat adult depression. Participants will learn how to apply treatment specific approaches to effectively tailor their treatment plans. A case vignette will illuminate the treatment options while uncovering mistakes and learning solutions to ensure the best option for depression treatment is utilized.

Attendees will leave the webinar with a clear understanding of factors that influence depressive symptoms, treatment considerations to note when guiding clients, and symptom tracking measures to assess the efficacy of counseling interventions.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain salient factors specific to Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression treatment
  • Apply 3 skills from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for depression treatment
  • Discuss 3 factors specific to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression treatment
  • Identify at least 2 effective assessment measures to track treatment progress
