In this engaging and interactive 3 CE training, therapists, social workers, MFTs and psychologists will learn about the 5 external and 5 internal challenges in working with difficult clients, how to break through those barriers and win over the client as a partner in the process. Learn about what triggers therapists and what triggers clients to no-show, ghost you, remain silent, act non-compliant and not follow through with goals. Participants will learn 3 rapport building techniques, how to utilize motivational interviewing and humanistic psychology to motivate clients and how to determine whether or not to pursue further work with the client.

Learning Objectives: Participants will learn and practice in breaking through and connecting with difficult, non-compliant and silent clients.

  • Participants will learn the basic principles of client needs
  • Participants will learn 3 ways to define client non-engagement
  • Participants will learn 5 external and 5 internal challenges in client cooperation.
  • Participants will learn 3 rapport building techniques, 5 pre-emptive methods and 5 on the ground ways to engage with and successfully help difficult clients.
