Course Overview
Via live interactive webinar
Course Description:
In this course, participants will delve into Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a condition often fraught with misdiagnosis and delayed treatment. Attendees will acquire the skills necessary for accurate diagnosis, empowering education, and instilling hope in clients grappling with OCD.
Participants will learn the theory and practical application of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is a cornerstone of evidence-based OCD treatment. This will include experiential exercises, metaphorical communication, and clinical examples to uncover the nuances of effective ERP implementation.
The primary focus of this course is on treatment of adult clients grappling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, it will also provide valuable insights into adapting these techniques for working with children.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- List differential diagnosis and properly diagnose obsessive-compulsive disorder.
- Recall the OCD cycle as well as the Exposure and Response Prevention approach.
- Explain and guide a client through ERP, including building their exposure hierarchy, and facilitating structured exposure exercise.
