Course Overview

Via live interactive webinar
Course Description:
Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m so OCD”? This is a common statement because OCD is often misunderstood in our society. As clinicians, you are likely to have clients with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Understanding the disorder and fundamental treatment approaches is beneficial.

This workshop will present the etiology of OCD, including symptomology and assessment measures for proper DSM-5-TR diagnosis. Key features of the disorder, including thought and behavior patterns, will be explored. The core treatment approaches of CBT and ERP will be highlighted. Case vignettes and video clips will provide clinicians with opportunities to engage in critical thinking and discussion.

This course will present treatment strategies that are appropriate for the general population with OCD, which can include children. The material will mostly focus on adults.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and identify key symptomology through review of the DSM-5-TR criteria.
  • Differentiate between obsessions and compulsions of the disorder and show examples of how each manifest with OCD.
  • Evaluate and implement evidenced-based treatment methods, such as CBT and ERP.

As a social worker, I greatly enjoyed the continued education training provided to my organization on the overview of trauma informed care. Its great to hear about other specialties in the field and get insight to their work. I felt the training was very clear and informative and that the trainer had a lot of knowledge and passion for the topic. Thank you!

LOVED this program! The speaker (Happy Birthday!) was knowledgeable & personable - clearly an expert, and not at all "showy". I appreciated his knowledge & his humor , & his relaxed & engaging manner. Though he spoke quickly (lots of info to pack into a short amount of time!), I know (& look forward to) I can watch the recording to pick up anything I missed! I will certainly attend future trainings of his!!! Thank you! ??
