Via live interactive webinar
DATE CHANGE: We apologize for the inconvenience, due to the presenter being sick, we had to reschedule from 7-20-21 to 8-10-21, 10 AM EST start time. All links are still the same for Zoom, handouts and evals.
Note: Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by Association of Play Therapy for 3 CE CONTACT Hours.
This experiential workshop will focus on helping mental health clinicians think creatively to build rapport by incorporating numerous types of media into their therapeutic play interventions.
Integrating movies, using narrative therapy as well as lego-play, appropriate and helpful apps, and utilizing memes in the context of therapy has proven an effective method of opening new avenues of dialogue, personal discovery and clinical benefits.
Using innovative interventions enhances creativity in the therapeutic relationship and playroom, thus creating great opportunity for therapeutic growth and self-discovery. Making it a practice to utilize media in sessions provides an opportunity for our clients to identify with characters they are familiar with in pop culture which enhances their ability to describe their own experiences and to learn how to create healthy responses and narrative changes. The autonomy of lego-play, connection to movie themes, and the creativity of memes and apps can easily be incorporated into most therapeutic interventions including with children and teens.
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define 3 fundamentals of cinema therapy and learn 5 cinema therapy interventions
- Create 5 narratives using lego play within narrative therapy
- Properly utilize media and memes within play therapy to promote autonomy, communication therapeutic skills.
- Recall at least 3 apps that can enhance teen mental health
