Course Description:
APT Primary Focus Areas:
Skills and Methods - 3 CE
Special Topics - 3 CE
Total Play Therapy CE Hours: 6 CE

This webinar presents an innovative approach to assessing and treating children who have experienced sexual abuse. Participants will explore the impact of sexual abuse on children and learn evidence-based, trauma-focused play therapy interventions. Directive play therapy techniques will be integrated throughout the workshop to demonstrate how structured, play-based interventions can help children safely express and process traumatic experiences and build coping skills.

The workshop will also highlight the critical role of caregivers in the healing process and provide practical strategies for engaging and supporting parents so they can effectively assist their children’s recovery. In addition, an innovative model for working with suspected but unsubstantiated cases of child sexual abuse will be presented, offering guidance on how clinicians can respond thoughtfully and ethically when concerns arise without clear evidence.

Through case studies, videos of client sessions, activity demonstrations, and experiential exercises, participants will gain practical skills to provide trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care for children and their families.
