Diagnostic criteria changes are often made within the mental health field. The DSM-5 and ICD-11 have added criteria for new disorders related to grief called: Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder (DSM-5) and Prolonged Grief Disorder (ICD-11). In this important training, clinicians will learn the difference between the DSM-5, ICD-11, and DSM-5-TR and how to treat this aspect of grief.
This training will educate clinicians on the major differences between the DSM-5 and ICD-11 grief related disorders. It is crucial that clinicians stay up to date with new diagnosis when supporting clients. This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the criteria for the Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder and Prolonged Grief Disorder. This workshop will leave clinicians feeling confident in providing a grief related diagnose while working with their clients to better serve them. It will provide grounding techniques and interventions to help clients deal with their prolonged grief.
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recall the diagnostic criteria for Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder according to the DSM-5.
- Recall the diagnostic criteria for Prolonged Grief Disorder according to the ICD-11.
- Demonstrate improved ability to diagnose mental health issues related to bereavement.
- Apply at least 3 prolonged/complex grief interventions and grounding skills.
