Course Description:
Sexual trauma is sadly a common phenomenon that therapists must be proficient in addressing. This training will explore how sexual trauma can lead to grief and feelings of deep sadness. It will provide insight and structure on how this grief impacts treatment and must be a factor in treatment. This workshop will provide a framework to understand sexual trauma, grief, and traumatic grief, and how they are related.
Participants will learn about current therapeutic approaches and interventions to support clients as they learn to navigate their grief after experiencing sexual trauma. This workshop will help you apply techniques spanning grief models, Trauma Focused-CBT, Complicated Grief Treatment Model, grounding techniques and more. You will learn how to help clients process, heal and thrive in life despite what they have experienced.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define sexual trauma, grief, and traumatic grief.
- Recall 2 grief models and their techniques for conceptualizing and supporting traumatic grief.
- Implement 5 effective interventions for grief therapy to better care for clients who experienced sexual trauma.
