Trauma changes the way that a person thinks and feels. The brain works overtime to protect the traumatized person from real and perceived threats. Learn the neurological factors as where and how the brain stores trauma and utilize this knowledge to effectively engage with and treat clients who are suffering from chronic or acute trauma. This course will present an overview of trauma, 5 challenges in treating trauma and 5 methods to harness the knowledge of neurology to effectively begin to help clients suffering from traumatic experiences. We will cover the adaptive system, hyper-arousal and skills for implementing EMDR, somatic interventions and helping clients trust you and gain hopefulness from your commitment to honor, respect, validate and demystify the treatment process while working with them. This CE training is invaluable in cultivating moderate to advanced trauma skills. Most notably, it is completely free.     This course was helpful in recognizing signs and symptoms of trauma, understanding how trauma affects areas of the brain, and brief overview of modalities to help address maladaptive coping mechanisms during therapeutic sessions.

    An excellent presentation on trauma and its relationship to life problems. The concept that trauma is related to the protection of the individual and is a normal protective response is a wonderful point. Five key interventions that were presented are extremely helpful.
