Licenses granted to psychologists, like other mental health professional licenses, expire every 3 years, requiring them to complete psychology CEUs to meet the continuing education requirements set by the educational and mental health governing bodies of each state. The American psychological association (APA) provides continuing education for psychologists and other mental health professionals. These are programs that provide for professional development opportunities, all the while allowing professionals to earn CE credits and complete psychology CEUs. Psychology CEUs can be completed online or in-person, depending on the professional’s time and money constraints, through academic coursework and self-instruction (only up to the maximum allotted hours, in the case of the latter). CE hours can be completed through accredited courses provided by approved providers or through a variety of activities such as participating in seminars, workshops, webinars, community service, and other activities relating to topics specified by the governing bodies.CE State Info
