With the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health therapists have been greatly challenged to practice that which we have long preached to our clients: adaption. We are realizing that it is not easy. Many feel inadequate and not properly prepared to carry out this difficult task at hand. Scrambling to meet our own household and personal needs while also dealing with urgent client matters that include crisis management, grief and anxiety, only compounds the problem.
This crash course focuses on ten vital tasks which therapists can prioritize, strategize and focus on in order to get focused on delivering, in a new manner, the most useful and effective services to new and past clients.
This course espouses that which its presenter has always shared, “The greatest present we can give our clients is your presence combined with your skills.” It shares the top ten how-to, practical, evidence-based interventions to help clients during this most trying time. We will focus on the “do’s and don’ts” of technology, self-care, crisis support, scheduling and maintaining hope and realism.
This presentation brings together an experienced and compassionate view on providing telehealth, crisis and trauma response, in a way that assists clients to move forward in life.
Original recording date: May 19, 2020 Length: 62 minutes

- List 5 evidence-based techniques for helping clients during times of crisis
