Home Study Course Description
Trauma changes the way that a person thinks and feels. The brain works overtime to protect the traumatized person from real and perceived threats. Learn the neurological factors as where and how the brain stores trauma and utilize this knowledge to effectively engage with and treat clients who are suffering from chronic or acute trauma. This course will present an overview of trauma, 5 challenges in treating trauma and 5 methods to harness the knowledge of neurology to effectively begin to help clients suffering from traumatic experiences. We will cover the adaptive system, hyper-arousal and skills for implementing EMDR, somatic interventions and helping clients trust you and gain hopefulness from your commitment to honor, respect, validate and demystify the treatment process while working with them.
