As mental health professionals, we are often frozen with fear when our clients ask or sometimes subpoena us to court on their behalf. Many times this occur with a family involved in a custody case, an injured client seeking support in their lawsuit or a request to be an expert witness. Sometimes clinicians find themselves being sued as well. While we never wish for any of these items, the reality is that they do occur. The best way to deal with them is to be prepared.
The reality is that professionals are often put in a position where they must interface with the legal system. This can be daunting. This course, appropriately presented by a expert whose dual role as a mental health professional and lawyer will help prepare clinicians with information and skills to competently interface with the legalsystem, when necessary.
Note: This course provides no individual legal advice, however, it provides a framework, familiarity and exposure to multiple legal processes, advice on how to protect yourself and when to seek legal help.
