With about 20% of American adults having mental health concerns, and only about half of them finding treatment, there is a great shortage of care and client engagement. Telehealth opens up access for those whose schedule, location and other constraints would otherwise disallow therapy. Additionally, in times of crisis, telehealth provides a means whereby therapists can safely work with clients remotely from the comfort of their respective homes.
In today’s digital age, people are becoming more technologically savvy and literate. In 2010, only about 30% of hospitals utilized telehealth services compared to 76% in 2019. With HIPAA compliant technology readily available, therapists and clients are enjoying the benefits of telehealth mental health services.
This course will cover the ethical and best-practice methods of telehealth delivery as well as a detailed how-to guide in setting up your effective telehealth practice. It will cover 5 challenges and 5 benefits of telehealth, and ways to mitigate the limitations and maximize the gains. We will also cover a practical review and application of the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics spanning the digital section. We will offer tips and advice as to how to utilize 4 evidence-based techniques to deliver effective telehealth therapy. If you were considering working with clients remotely or have already begun doing so, this course will give you the confidence and will direct you towards establishing an ethical and effective delivery avenue.

I really enjoyed the instructor's expertise and experience in utilizing these skills in their own practice; I appreciated the teaching of distracting techniques but only as an emphasize for short term; I appreciated the defining of "crisis" and how this is temporary (anything longer is a life choice)
