Course Overview

Via recorded webinar
Course Description:
When working with trauma clients, it is easy to get pulled into the whirlwind of emotion, dysregulation and hopelessness. Establishing clear and mutual treatment goals is essential for both the client and the therapist. However, it is hard to know how to prioritize and how to collaborate with the client.

This course will teach you how to cut through the distracting and challenging aspects of trauma and complex cases to win the client’s trust and confidence while creating a treatment plan that is effective and measurable. The target goal of success is confusing and elusive, until skills are utilized to focus in on need.

First, we will define issues and attempt to untangle and prioritize. We will establish a life timeline that unifies past and present as well as possible. Then we will categorize what is going on currently in the client’s life. Next, the training elaborated on three specific goals of current functioning. Next, we will utilize the 5 psychosexual stages of Freud as well as Erikson’s 8 stages of psychosocial development and help the client regain his or her life and vitality. Finally, we will work in a clear method of assessment regarding progress and reevaluation of goals.
