In this engaging and interactive training, aimed for those with basic trauma treatment experience, therapists, social workers, marriage and family therapists and psychologists will learn about how to diagnose, conceptualize and treat trauma experienced by and impacting clients. Traumas include chronic and acute life events spanning sexual, emotional and physical abuse as well as neglect, exposure to war and acute experiences.
Learners will be immersed in the history and evolution of trauma diagnosis and treatment, the core competencies utilized for treating trauma as well as practical evidence-based treatments for trauma counseling based on John Bowlby’s Attachment Theory, as well as EMDR, somatic interventions and the work of Allan Schore, Peter Levine, Bessel Van Der Kolk and other renowned trauma experts. We will cover a conceptualization of attachment wounds, personality disorders, core stabilization and long-term treatment interventions.
