Via live interactive webinar
Course Description:
Mood dysregulation is a symptom present in a variety of disorders, especially anxiety and trauma-based. It can be challenging for clinicians to understand and manage dysregulated moods since it can present as irritability, mood swings, and angry outbursts, which can challenge the therapeutic relationship.
This training will provide information to better assess mood dysregulation, differentiation in diagnosis, and provide a therapeutic framework. We will cover the experiences of adolescents (13-19) and adults (18+), emphasizing emerging adults.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the factors that contribute to emotional dysregulation and recognize how dysregulation manifests across various mental health diagnoses.
- Understand Disruptive Mood Dysregulation disorder in adolescence, why it was includedin the DSM 5, and what differentiates it from Bipolar disorder.
- Analyze the therapeutic challenges for mood dysregulation and recall at least four treatment strategies that can help reduce dysregulation, increase safety and address potential issues of self-harm.
