Course Description:
Trauma changes the way a person thinks and feels. The brain works overtime to protect the traumatized person from real and perceived threats. This is a natural adaptive feature that becomes maladaptive. Learn the neurological factors as to where and how the brain stores trauma and utilize this knowledge to effectively engage with and treat clients who are suffering from chronic or acute trauma. This course will present an overview of trauma, 5 challenges in treating trauma and 5 methods to harness the knowledge of neurology to effectively begin helping clients suffering from traumatic experiences.

The course will cover the adaptive system, hyper-arousal and skills for implementing mindfulness, grounding, EMDR skills and somatic interventions. In addition, this course will prepare you to best help clients learn to trust you and gain hopefulness from your commitment to honor, respect, validate and demystify the treatment process while working with them.

This CE training is invaluable in cultivating your trauma treatment skills. You will gain new skills for helping trauma clients achieve calm, self-acceptance and move forward in life, in ways that both you and your clients never imagined.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Define 3 basic principles of trauma formation
  • Apply 5 interventions in dealing with trauma treatment challenges
  • Explain 5 intervention to help clients calm themselves
